Tighter animal laws sought in Crewe

Crewe Mayor Phil Miskovic this week issued the following statement in response to last week’s dog attacks of two men on Carter Street.

“The dog attack incident was unfortunate and unacceptable. People should be able to walk on our streets without fear of attack by animals. I applaud the heroism of the second victim who, according to news reports, came to the rescue of the first.

“I won’t opine on the specific facts and details about the incident, especially as they’re still being investigated by our police department and the County’s animal control officer. Regardless of the outcome of the investigation, I do think this unfortunate episode is an opportunity for Council and our town staff to evaluate the strength of our animal laws, identify gaps, and determine what, if any, changes are needed.”
