Nottoway authorities were called late Saturday night to the VFW hall on Mt. Nebo Road for subjects fighting and approximately 15 gunshots being fired.
Sheriff Robert Jones reports that the call was received at 11:46 p.m. and that the caller reportedly had left the scene. Nottoway deputies, along with Blackstone and Crewe officers, responded and encountered a number of vehicles leaving the event. EMS was dispatched and placed on standby but weren’t needed.
Jones said, “There appeared to have been no gunshot victims or any indications of gunfire at the scene. Area hospitals were advised to be on the look out for any possible gunshot wounds.”
Jones at presstime said there had been no such reports. Deputies cleared from the scene at approximately 1:45 a.m. — two hours after the call.
