Dozens of baseball players, their parents, and fans from several area counties will be converging on Blackstone this week as the Nottoway Youth Recreation Association (NYRA) hosts the District Five Dixie Youth All-Star tournaments.
The action begins this coming Friday, June 17th, at the Town of Blackstone’s Wrigglesworth Sports Complex.
Nottoway’s Coach Pitch Team (ages 8 and under) will face Lunenburg in its tournament opener at 6:00 p.m.
Nottoway Minor League All-Stars (ages 10 and under) won’t begin tournament play until Saturday, and they’ll face Prince Edward/Farmville at 5:00 p.m.
Nottoway’s Major League All-Stars (ages 12 and under) also won’t begin play until Saturday, and they’ll face Lunenburg at 7:00 p.m.
Also starting tournament action this week is the Nottoway Darlings (ages 8 and under) softball team, which is playing in Lawrenceville starting this Friday. Nottoway has drawn Prince Edward/Farmville for the 4:00 p.m. tournament opener.
SOFTBALL HERE NEXT WEEK
The NYRA next week will host the District One Angels (ages 10 and under), Ponytails (ages 12 and under), and Belles (ages 15 and under) softball All-Star tournaments starting Friday, June 24th at the Wrigglesworth Sports Complex in Blackstone.
Nottoway’s Angels (age 10 and under) will open against South Hill at 6:00 p.m. on June 24th in the five-team tournament. Lunenburg drew a first round bye.
Nottoway’s Ponytails (age 12 and under) will open against Prince Edward/Farmville at 7:30 p.m. on June 24th in that six-team tournament.
Nottoway’s Belles (age 15 and under) will open against South Hill at 6:00 p.m. in that five-team tournament. Dinwiddie drew a first-round bye.
