Delay Of Game

The Town of Blackstone has spent $108,000 building a football field for the Nottoway Youth Gators football teams and recently approved a $66,825 bid from Divine Builders of Amelia to build the Gators a concession stand. The Gators were planning to move their 20 home games (five per age division) this coming Fall from the Nottoway High School complex to this site at the Town’s Wrigglesworth Sports Complex. Councilman Nathaniel Miller, who volunteers with the Gators, recently told Town Council that rocks and other debris in the dirt have caused safety concerns for players, and that the latest plan is for the Gators to play this coming Fall at the complex and hopefully move to Wrigglesworth in 2023. Blackstone built the football field in the outfield of a seldom-used 300-ft. adult baseball diamond. That infield will still be used for tee-ball.
