Nottoway High School’s varsity boys’ soccer team entered this week with a 5-2-2 record.

The Cougars last Wednesday at Cumberland shut-out the Dukes, 8-0, thanks to two ‘hat tricks.’ Stand-out sophomore striker Thomas Ingram scored three goals, as did senior midfielder Danny Martin. Also scoring were seniors Grayson Pridgen and Troy Hayes.

Ingram has scored 11 goals in nine matches for Nottoway, with six contests remaining. Last year as a freshman, he scored 11 goals for the Cougars, which is the second-highest total for a single season.

Entering this week, Nottoway was one game out of first place in the James River District with a 4-1-1 JRD record. The Cougars were scheduled to host district leader Central of Lunenburg this past Monday, May 1st. Nottoway and Lunenburg tied 2-2 on March 20th, and the Cougars got the best of Central, 3-1, on March 27th.

The Cougars through nine games this year have allowed opponents only 11 goals, with three shut-out wins.
