Last Monday morning, Jan. 20th, as my husband and I traveled to the Second Amendment rally in Richmond, I was legitimately scared of what the events of the day had in store at the Capitol.

The media had told us that extremist hate groups, Antifa, and militant members of BLM were going to swarm in and start all kinds of trouble.

They told us there would be snipers on the rooftops of every building.

They shared sensational Facebook threads depicting the most radical of Charlottesville protestors, saying it was going to be “C’Ville 2.0.”

I wore body armor under my coat and carried emergency supplies in my backpack in case they were right.

But they weren’t.
