Some think that we should simply expand Medicaid and move on.

My suggestion is that we should look at the current broken Medicaid system and other benefit programs. Most federal benefit programs are rife with problems and, as yet, there’s little effort to correct them.

As just an example, consider the following story by Bethany Blankley out of Minnesota:

“Rob Undersander and his wife of Waite Park, Minnesota, collected roughly $6,000 in food stamp benefits despite having assets that categorized them as millionaires. They did it to prove a point: not everyone receiving food stamps should be. Undersander recently testified before a Minnesota House committee.
