WHY DO WE HAVE THE SECOND?

The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed

of the people, trained to arms, is the proper, natural, and safe defense of a free state , therefore, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed . . .” (Emphasis mine)

Our Founders were wise, intelligent men. They gave us our Constitutional Republic largely because of one thing -- they understood human nature and the fact that it has not changed since Adam and Eve. They understood that men often have evil intentions.

A few words on the subject from our Founders:

“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.”

“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
