HOLD THE RELISH

Food trucks could get break in Blackstone
Traveling furniture sales firms and traveling book salespeople, for example, would still have to pay the $500 annual fee. But not food trucks.

A local resident's planned food truck has some members of Blackstone Town Council considering no longer requiring the Town's $500 peddlar's license, or "Itinerant Merchant" license. Town Council is expected to hear a recommendation at its Aug. 28th meeting. They would still be required to collect meals tax on sales in town limits.

Town Manager Philip Vannoorbeeck told officials this week that the Town's present $500 fee requires trucks to "sell a whole lot of hot dogs and hamburgers."
