90 Units Planned At Old VFW Park
Richmond developer Herbert Fitzgerald, who has family connections to Nottoway County, is moving forward with plans to build “Patriot Square Apartments” at the old VFW ballpark property on Epes Street. The 90- unit venture, which aims to serve U. S. State Dept. trainees and employees at the new Foreign Affairs Security Training Center (FASTC) at Fort Pickett, will feature three 3-story buildings with 27 furnished one-bedroom apartments. The five-acre site, which runs along a portion of Dinwiddie Avenue, also will include nine two-bedroom townhouses available for long-term rental by FASTC staff. Fitzgerald says the three-story buildings will have elevators, and weekly housekeeping will be provided. A clubhouse (lower left) will offer a gym, large lounge, and an apartment for the Square’s on-site manager. Availability is planned for 2021, he said.
