Nottoway grades 5-12 returning for in-person instruction

For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic arrived here last March, students in grades 5-12 are coming back to the classrooms in Nottoway Public Schools.

The return is set for tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 4th) as the second semester begins and was made possible by a 3-2 vote by the School Board last month.

Tomorrow will mark the first classroom instruction for students at Nottoway Intermediate, Middle, and High Schools in nearly 11 months. Only English as a Second Language (ESL) learners and students with disabilities in those grades have been receiving instruction at school.

Under the plan, students in grades 5-12 will attend school two days per week in an alternating hybrid model (Mondays-Tuesdays and Thursdays-Fridays) -- the same way Blackstone and Crewe Primary Schools re-opened in November.
