CASH FOR KENNELS
An “attack dog” in the courtroom has been appointed Chairman of Nottoway County’s new Animal Shelter Fundraising Committee.
Long-time attorney, Jack Boswell of Burkeville, was named to lead the new panel Thursday night by the Board of Supervisors. Officials also appointed District 5 rep Noel Shekleton to serve as the Board’s liaison on the committee, with voting privileges.
District Three rep Helen Simmons nominated Celia Orr-Elzay to serve, and Mrs. Orr-Elzay was confirmed, 5-0. Other appointments are expected at the Board’s April 18th meeting.
County Administrator Ronnie Roark said that based on the County auditor’s advice, the committee will have an independent bank account, and those proceeds can be transferred to the Board after fundraising is complete.
