CAUTION URGED ON LANDFILL, ACTION SOUGHT ON BROADBAND
The senior member of Nottoway’s Board of Supervisors is warning a freshman official against efforts to privatize the County landfill.
District Four rep Sherman Vaughn shared his concerns at a Thursday night worksession -- which included a discussion on what should be Nottoway County’s top priorities -- after District Two Supervisor John Roark once again asked the Board to consider a waste management study.
“If you go private,” Vaughn warned, “you’re talking about bringing more trash in, and then we’re talking about neighborhoods -- people from those neighborhoods are NOT going to want that, I can tell you that now. You just can’t put stuff in people’s neighborhoods.”
