Blackstone Police safeguarding items found in Lakeview

The evidence room in Blackstone’s police station now contains more than two dozen items -- including grave markers, stones, and ornaments -- that authorities say were taken from Confederate veterans’ graves throughout Central and Southside Virginia and placed in Town-owned Lakeview Cemetery.

As reported last week, former Town employee Justin Randolph Kile, 38, of Lunenburg Avenue, Blackstone, is charged with one felony count of theft from Richmond’s Shockoe Hill Cemetery. A preliminary hearing has been set for 9:00 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31st, in Richmond-John Marshall General District Court.
