Nottoway County Administrator Ronnie Roark had several reasons to smile Thursday night. Citizen Mell Crawford publicly condemned tactics of some residents trying to discredit him. Also, a letter of support for Roark, from resident Charlotte D. Wood, was read aloud. Roark, who next month will celebrate his 46th anniversary as Nottoway County Administrator, is shown enjoying a light moment with friend Vivian Giles, a local government attorney from Sands Anderson in Richmond and a former Cumberland County Administrator. Attorney Giles has attended two recent Board meetings and, according to the County Administrator’s office, isn’t being paid to appear. Roark, who has been criticized by some for not being tech-savvy, was observed before the meeting taking photos on his cell phone, including several of Assistant Administrator John Prosise while Prosise wasn’t looking.
