As they have done since mid-March, Piedmont Health District officials are urging Nottoway residents to continue wearing face masks and maintain social distance to combat an ongoing surge in COVID-19 cases here.

As of 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, Nov. 17th, Nottoway had a total of 451 COVID cases, up by 41 from the previous week’s total of 414 and up by 82 over the past two weeks. Over the past six weeks, Nottoway has experienced 175 new reported COVID cases.

David Martin, the District’s Local Health Emergency Coordinator, says Nottoway is experiencing active outbreaks at “two unrelated congregate living facilities.” He declined to name those facilities but said both are working closely with the Health Department, “following all mitigation recommendations including ongoing repeat testing of all residents and staff, and appropriate quarantining and isolation procedures.”
