Dreaded East Asian tick found in Virginia

Parasite carries Severe Fever, Lyme, and other diseases

Southside Virginians may have a new tick to beware.

According to the state Dept. of Agriculture, the National Veterinary Services Laboratory in Ames, Iowa has confirmed the finding of the Haemaphysalis longicornis tick (also known as the “East Asian” or “Longhorned” tick) in Virginia on May 14th.
