EXTEND DAY, OR LENGTHEN SCHOOL YEAR?
School decision-makers in Nottoway County still aren’t sure how best to make-up missed instructional time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nottoway students haven’t been to class since March 13th, and uncertainty abounds on when and how school will resume in the Fall.
A proposal by the division’s leadership team -- to extend the school day by 30 minutes for the Fall semester -- failed to advance Thursday night.
On two occasions 30 minutes apart, District One member Bill Outlaw moved to adopt the recommendation by Supt. Dr. Tameshia Grimes, but both of his motions died for lack of a second.
