Falling tree spares Falls St. couple

Blackstone couple were shaken-up but escaped injury after a large tree fell and nearly levelled their home. The incident occurred last Tuesday evening, Oct. 2nd, at 816 Falls Street. Robert Easter Davis had showered after cutting grass and was preparing dinner with fiance Jeanette Wilson when he heard a cracking sound outside.

“The only thing I could do was say, ‘Oh, God’ and grab her and head out the back door. And then that tree came on down.” The massive oak totally consumed Easter’s front yard and caused overnight power outages in the neighborhood, but fortunately, it fell across the front yard in such a manner that the home appeared to escape major damages. Blackstone Vol. Fire Dept. and Town electrical crews responded to an initial report that the couple were trapped inside their home.
