The Superintendent of Nottoway County Public Schools has resigned -- effective next month -- and a search for his successor is about to get underway.
Dr. Rodney Berry, who began his duties here in July 2016, will become Supt. of Education for the Virginia Dept. of Corrections. His last day here will be May 18th -- the date of Nottoway High School’s commencement.
“I am excited about this opportunity for professional growth, although leaving Nottoway County and this wonderful community will be bittersweet,” Berry said in an email to staff last Tuesday afternoon, March 26th.
In a special “emergency” meeting Wednesday, School Board members returned from closed session and voted 4-0, with member Clive Pettis absent, to accept Berry’s resignation. Dr. Berry also wasn’t present, citing “another engagement.”
