HISTORY-MAKER HAS ROOTS HERE
The new Sheriff-Elect of Henrico County is the daughter of two Nottoway County natives.
Alisa Anderson Gregory, an Undersheriff at the department where she’s worked since 1998, was elected Nov. 5th. She’ll become Henrico’s first female Sheriff and first African-American Sheriff.
Alisa says she’s “still playing catch-up” responding to congratulatory phone calls and messages and responded to the Courier-Record this week.
“Voter turn-out was amazing,” Alisa told the Courier newsroom. The Democrat collected 56% of the vote in a three-way race, receiving a total of 57,963 votes.
Sheriff-elect Gregory’s mother, Anna Anderson Winston, was born and raised in Blackstone. Her father, John Ed Pettis, was born and raised in Crewe.
