This Pennsylvania National Guardsman, shown above being treated by local fire and rescue volunteers, was flown Friday morning to Richmond after the Humvee he was driving collided with an east-bound tractor-trailer at intersection of US 460 and Cox Road north of Blackstone. A female soldier in the passenger seat also was injured. State Police said the Humvee pulled-out from Cox Road into the path of the big rig. Several persons at Friday’s scene said armored vehicle held-up very well in collision and quite possibly prevented a double fatality.
Two members of the Pennsylvania National Guard were seriously injured Friday morning when the armored Humvee in which they were traveling collided with a tractor-trailer.
Friday’s accident, which caused significant traffic delays, occurred shortly after 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of East Colonial Trail Highway (Rt. 460) and Cox Road (460 Business) north of Blackstone.
According to State Police, the Humvee was traveling north from Cox Road, crossing over the east-bound lane to take a left onto west-bound 460.
The Humvee crossed into the path of an east-bound 2013 Peterbuilt tractor-trailer and was struck in the east-bound lane of 460. The Humvee apparently was hauling a trailer.
