NO MORE DOWNTOWN GRILLIN’

Council bans non-profit food sales, 4-3

Civic groups, churches, and other non-profit organizations no longer will be able to cook or sell Brunswick stew, Boston butts, and other prepared food in Blackstone’s Historic Business District (HBD).

Town Council voted 4-3 Monday night (Jan. 28th) to approve the new measure, with an April 1st effective date.

Councilmembers Eric Nash, Tom Wilkinson, and Christine Hasbrouck cast the dissenting votes on Council President Barbara Thompson’s motion. Voting for the motion were Ms. Thompson, Shelia Jones, Lonnie Morgan, and Nathaniel Miller.

Council’s Health & Ordinance Committee (Jones, Morgan, Thompson) discussed the matter and reached a 3-0 recommendation on Jan. 17th.
