NOT BEING ‘VINDICTIVE’

But ex-curator of carriage museum says Town not keeping promises

Blackstone Town Council has agreed to continue discussions with VDOT to ensure that the Town has complied with all requirements of a 2007 grant that led to construction of the Robert Thomas Carriage Museum.

“Some people say I’m being vindictive -- but I’m not,” former museum curator Bobby Thomas told Council at its Nov. 19th meeting. “I’m just here to represent my family’s interests and the fact that they spent their hard-earned money, they cut timber, they borrowed money, to provide this town an opportunity to be able to draw-in tourists to bring-in more money.

“I don’t care if the Town wants me back or not -- my interest here is to represent my family and their interests. I guarantee you that if you go to any town or any other city, where someone has done what we have done, you would be sitting on a board. You would have a lot of say-so and not have what happened to our family five years ago.”
