Raid upsets Kenbridge man

Says plants in yard mistaken for pot, legal action possible

An outspoken advocate for industrial hemp says he’s filed a formal complaint against several police officers after lawmen raided his home last week and took his laptop computer, video surveillance recorder, and possibly other items.

George Ogburn, 60, of Kenbridge, says he’ll have the last laugh, however, because probable cause listed on the search warrant was based on “perfectly legal plants” growing outside his home -- plants that Ogburn says were kenaf and not marijuana as alleged by police.
