The number of confirmed COVID cases in Nottoway County jumped by 14% over the previous week, rising from 1,327 last Monday (Jan. 11th) to 1,512 this past Monday, Jan. 18th.
Nottoway’s 185 new COVID cases during the past week outpaced the number of vaccines administered here. The number of Nottoway residents receiving COVID shots rose by only 125.
The news comes after Nottoway School Board members voted 3-2 last Thursday night to re-open grades 5-12 for voluntary in-person learning for the first time since last March. Teachers yesterday (Tuesday, Jan. 19th) were eligible to begin receiving vaccines.
