TOWN PONDERS NEW POSITION
BUT CAN BLACKSTONE AFFORD IT?
The Town of Blackstone over the past two years has awarded employee pay raises which, according to Manager Philip Vannoorbeeck, have exceeded $250,000.
Meanwhile, Town Council’s Police & Employment Committee is considering the possibility of creating a new position -- that of Human Resources Director.
The request was made last year by At-Large Councilman Lonnie Morgan and was endorsed publicly last Thursday afternoon by Yvonne Wilson Jackson, the Town’s Director of Community Development.
“Human Resources is a very important position,” she said, addressing the panel of Barbara Thompson, Nathaniel Miller, and Morgan. “Not having that human resource person really brings a damper to an organization.”
