Future of old college bldg. still uncertain

After sitting idle for twoand-a-half years, the old Blackstone College for Girls property has a new owner.

Kenbridge-based DMM Properties LLC, a three-investor entity that includes local businessman Louis DeNitto, has bought the former Virginia United Methodist Assembly Center (VUMAC) for $475,000.

The transaction is listed in the monthly Nottoway County Land Transfers, published in today’s edition.

The sale includes the historic old College building, the adjacent Gables house, and a combined total of more than 60 acres -- both on the VUMAC property and west of the old campus on the north side of Hungarytown Road.
