WHAT’S THE RUSH?

Pettis questions series of events, says colleagues excluded him

Clive Pettis says he believes much of last week’s news from the Nottoway School Board Office was “pre-planned,” including the appointment of retired Asst. Superintendent Dr. Yvonne Johnson to serve as Interim Superintendent.

Pettis, who represents District Three, said he received a phone call from Supt. Dr. Rodney Berry at 10:45 a.m. last Tuesday morning, March 26th.

Pettis said Berry told him he was resigning. That phone call occurred less than four hours before Berry sent an email to division staff announcing his resignation.

Pettis said that shortly afterwards, he received an email from Board Chair Jackie Hawkes, informing him of a called ‘emergency’ meeting set for 6:30 p.m. the next night (Wednesday, March 27th).
