A familiar local pedestrian, described by an increasing number of locals as Blackstone’s “homeless man,” received another warning early Monday morning (April 27th) after police were called to the alleyway behind Green Auto motive, where he had started a camp fire.
The Nottoway County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 Thursday to send a letter to Gov. Ralph Northam, asking him to reopen Virginia’s economy as soon as possible.

A Public Notice in today’s Courier-Record announces that the Town of Blackstone has received a request from Dogged State Distilling Company -- reportedly a local start-up -- to operate a distilled spirits plant, tasting room with tasting events, and a Virginia ABC-approved retail site in this warehouse building at 601 North West Avenue. The Blackstone Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, May 4th, at 6:00 p.m. in the council chambers of Town Hall. The proposal includes amending the Town zoning ordinance to allow such ventures in M-2 (General Manufacturing) zones with a conditional use permit.
