Rebecca Lee Lail Carter “Becky, aka GramGram,” 82, of Crewe, VA, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 12, 2020.
She was born in Victoria, VA and is the widow of John Leonard Stewart. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Thelma LaVon Stewart Hutchinson; and two sons, James Leonard “Buddy” Stewart and William Lee “Peter Rabbit” Carter; her parents, Ernest H. Lail, Sr. and Colon Cook Bridgeman; two brothers, Ernest H. Lail, Jr., and Ted E. “Tudley” Wiley, Jr;, and her sister, Janette Lail Totty.
Becky is survived by her two daughters, Wanda Lynn Stewart and Sandra Carter Robertson; a stepson, John Leonard Stewart, Jr.
She was a polio survivor who raised her five children with love for all as well as her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Becky fought the last months of her life against dementia. Thankfully, she is home with our Lord and His son, Jesus Christ, as well as all her family waiting in Heaven for her.
She was cared for in the last years of her life by Nicolette McKnight and Jennifer Davis, as well as Jennifer’s daughters. The family is planning a memorial cookout at the family home in Crewe at a later date in celebration of her life. Arrangements are by Joseph McMillian Funeral Home of Blackstone, VA.
