Lola Jean (Morris) Miller, 97, of Crewe, VA, went to be with her Lord on October 31, 2020.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James W. (Bill) Miller; and her beloved cats, Buddy and Rusty.
She is survived by her daughter, Carole Harper (Lowell) of Crewe; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Headley (David) of Gilmer, TX, and Christopher Harper of Crewe.
Lola was the only child of Earl and Zella Morris. She was born and raised in Johnstown, PA, where she attended business school and worked as a secretary for the Johnstown branch of Westinghouse Corporation.
After moving to Fairfax, VA, she was a Medical Records secretary at the Northern VA Training Center for the Mentally Handicapped until she retired.
In addition to her secretarial career, she was a Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent and active in the Women’s Society at Bruen Chapel United Methodist Church.
When she and Bill moved to Crewe, VA, in 1988, she joined Crewe United Methodist Church, where she helped in the nursery, Vacation Bible School, and the Women’s Society.
She also volunteered with the Nottoway County Literacy Program and went on many trips with the Crewe “Young at Heart” group and other bus groups. Besides travel, she was also an avid reader, still reading local, Richmond, and Johnstown newspapers as recently as a week before she passed. A Memorial Celebra
A Memorial Celebration was scheduled for today (Wednesday, November 4, 2020), at 2:00 p.m. at Crewe United Methodist Church. The family was to receive friends in the hour before the service.
