Rachel Royster Winn

Rachel Royster Winn, born October 12, 1926, passed peacefully on August 6, 2018. She was the last survivor among 12 siblings and the youngest child of Elizabeth Owen and Edward Graves Royster. Born in Chesterfield County, she spent most of her life in Blackstone, VA, with her late husband, Franklin. She was a stay-at-home mother who devoted herself to her four children. Rachel loved her family, friends, playing golf, and her church, Crenshaw United Methodist. We will miss her fierce devotion to her family, her feisty nature, and her chocolate cake! There will now be a void in the lives of Rachel’s children and their spouses, Dale Dewenter, Dianne and Jim Blandford, Denise and Jack Samuels, Frankie and Beth Winn; her grandchildren, Chris and Chelsea Murray, Winn and Whitney Hammond, Jake Blandford, Kate Blandford, Rachel and Ryan Gibson, Margaret Samuels, Jack Samuels III, Elizabeth Winn and Benjamin and Madison Winn. Rachel will be missed by her great-grandchildren, Abbey, Lee and Sidney Murray, River, Waylon and Wrainey Hammond and Taylor, Matthew and Nathan Gibson. Services will be held today (Wednesday, August 8th, 2018) at 11 a.m. at Crenshaw United Methodist Church, Blackstone, VA. Memorial remembrances directed to Crenshaw will be appreciated.
