On Sunday, July 15, 2018, Thomas Tabon, Jr., affectionately known as “Tommy,” of 6518 Grubby Road, Wilsons, VA, was called from labor to reward at VCU/MCV Medical Center in Richmond, VA. He was born February 27, 1948 in Nottoway County to Annie Mae Tabon and the late Thomas Walter Tabon, Sr. He is pre-deceased by his father, Thomas Walter Tabon, Sr; his brother, Robert Lee Branch; and his wife, Joanne Branch Tabon. He was educated in Nottoway County, having graduated from Luther H. Foster. He worked at Nunnally’s Texaco for years. Later, he began working at Phillip Morris USA, from which he later retired. While enjoying retirement, he drove transportation for Fields Transportation and spent time with family and friends. He was a former member of the St. Stephens Lodge #247. At an early age, he was baptized and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Dinwiddie. After marriage, he moved his membership to Bloomfield Baptist Church with his wife and children. Left to cherish great memories are his mother, Annie Mae Tabon of Blackstone, VA; his children, LaTonya Tabon Graves of Dinwiddie and Jeneane Tabon Holmes of Chesterfield, VA; four grandchildren, Kolen and Tristan Graves of Dinwiddie, VA, Jourdain Tabon and Jada Holmes of Chesterfield, VA; one sister, Lena T. Cousins (Edward) of Blackstone, VA; one brother, Jerry Tabon of Richmond, VA; mother-in-law, Lula W. Branch of Wilsons, VA; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Anita Drumgoole of Wilsons, VA; brother-inlaw, Robert E. Branch of Petersburg, VA; and sister-in-law Margie Branch of Colonial Heights, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, some of whom affectionately called him “Papa;” cousins, other relatives, and family friends, devoted, Rodney Graves and Tony Elder. He will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him. We will miss his smile, his slow drives, his favorite sayings: “tighten up,” “I don’t know myself,” and “I ain’t got nothing to do with it.” A Celebration of Life was conducted 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2018 at Bloomfield Baptist Church, 10608 White Oak Rd, Wilsons, VA 23894 with the Pastor, Kim White, officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Public viewing was conducted 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018 in the Petersburg Chapel.
