Betty Irby Williamson passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Beth Sholom Village in Virginia Beach, VA.

She was born October 14, 1923 in Nottoway County, Virginia to William Blunt and Elizabeth (Bettie) Hardaway Irby.

She graduated from Blackstone High School. On September 9, 1945, she married Marion Hunter Williamson.

During World War II, she worked as a clerk at Camp Pickett near Blackstone and later as a secretary and bookkeeper for many years in Chesapeake. In addition, she was a well-known dealer in antique and vintage china, glassware, and jewelry. She was a NASCAR fan as well.

She was proceeded in death by her sister, Jane Grey Irby Weaver of Elkin, NC; and brother, W. B Irby, Jr. of Tuxedo, NC.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 74 years; nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces, and great-great nephews and great-great nieces; and her beloved dog Rusty.

Her family wishes to thank the staff of the Gardens for the loving care they provided during her brief stay there. Burial was held Friday, August 30, at Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk, VA, at 2:00 p.m.
