CAN COUGARS BEAT GREENSVILLE AGAIN?

Nottoway ends regular season with loss, play-offs begin Friday

#4 Eagles will seek to avenge their Sept. 6-0 loss to Cougars

The Nottoway Cougars had their chances but couldn’t overcome Buckingham last Friday night, losing to the visiting Knights, 29-14, on a crisp night in the Cougar den.

“We played tough and had some opportunities to win,” said Head Coach Glen Pettis . “We just couldn’t finish our offensive drives.”

Nottoway QB Tyler Banks ran four times for 125 yards and scored two TDs, including a 53-yard scamper. He also ran-in a two-point conversion, accounting for all of Nottoway’s 14 points.

One of the stalled drives mentioned by Coach Pettis came in the 2nd quarter. Nottoway was trailing, 15-6, and driving deep into Knights’ territory when an underthrown pass intended for Domanick Pettis was intercepted near the goal line by Buckingham’s Xavier Copeland .
