Nottoway loses, 31-6; Central comes to town this Friday

Nottoway’s offense is sputtering as the varsity football Cougars (5-2) prepare to host resurging, high-octane Central of Lunenburg this coming Friday night at 7:00 p.m.

The Chargers (5-3) have scored 56 points in each of their last two games and have won four straight. Nottoway lost Friday at Goochland, 31-6, and has scored only three touchdowns in their past two outings.

Nottoway’s only TD Friday against the Bulldogs came in the 3rd quarter when RB Aymon Rhodes found the end zone on a 20-yard run and cut Goochland’s lead to 21-6. The two-point conversion failed.

“Goochland was really focused, and we were not,” said Head Coach Glen Pettis . “Lunenburg is on a roll right now. They keep finding ways to win. We have to bounce back this week.”

Pettis is referring to the Chargers’ 56-50 (3 OT) win at Amelia two weeks ago, and Central’s 56-44 Homecoming win Friday against Prince Edward.
