Nottoway girls win three straight

The Nottoway Lady Cougars varsity softball team won three games in three days last week, raising its record to 7-1 in the James River District (8-4 overall) with consecutive victories over Prince Edward, Amelia, and Cumberland.

Nottoway breezed to an 11-1 win at home over the Lady Eagles of Prince Edward in a five-inning slaughterrule contest last Monday, April 3rd. McKenna Falwell pitched a one-hitter, strikingout nine while allowing no earned runs (one unearned) and three walks.

Ryann Vermillion was a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two runs scored, three singles, and a double to lead Nottoway’s potent offense. Dallas Basinger went 2-for-3 with a triple, a single, and one RBI.

The Lady Cougars defeated the Lady Raiders of Amelia, 8-2 in another district home match-up. Hannah Hudson hurled all seven innings for the win, allowing only one earned run (one was unearned), three hits, and three walks to go along with nine strike-outs last Tuesday (4th).
