SALUTED FOR SERVICE

Michael “Doc” McGhee came to the Blackstone community nine years ago as Fort Pickett’s Command Sergeant Major with the Virginia Army National Guard. The Radford native moved here and stayed here after retirement and has been an active member of the community. McGhee was honored Friday night by outgoing Chamber of Commerce Chairman, Chuck Arnason, who presented McGhee with the chamber’s Volunteer of the Year award. “He has served on the

Chamber Board for nine years and has been a part of just about every event the Chamber has had during his tenure,” Arnason said. “One of his passions is to shape the character and leadership abilities of our youth with a principled will towards service and hard work. He does this though his organization, Team Legacy, which stresses the principles of Leadership, team-building, conservation and stewardship.”
