Tough loss, exciting win

Lady Kavs go 1-1 for the week

Kenston junior Josie Epperson belted two homers and senior Mackenzie Coley hit one herself, but the Lady Kavaliers’ softball team lost at home, 10-7, to Southampton Academy last Tuesday (21st).

The Lady Kavs recorded 11 hits but made costly errors in their loss to the defending state champions. Epperson had four RBI for Kenston.

The Lady Kavs rebounded the next day (Wednesday) with a 6-4 road win over Halifax Academy. Kenston was leading 4-2 in the 7th, but the Vikings rallied and forced extra innings. Senior Lydia Wrenn struckout nine batters with her change-up and put Kenston ahead for good in the top of the 10th inning with a two-run homer. Coley went 3-for-3 at the plate, with two doubles, a single, and 2 RBI. Epperson and Haley Henshaw also had two RBI.
