Kenston Forest School’s varsity softball team finished the regular season in 3rd place but peaked at the right time last week, winning the Virginia Colonial Conference tournament and proving once again that in Spring sports, May is more important than March.
Last Thursday in Dinwiddie, the Lady Kavaliers defeated Brunswick Academy, 14-10, to claim the VCC crown.
Shelby Gunn pitched fourand-one-third innings, allowing six hits and nine runs while striking-out four. Rachael Tucker relieved Gunn , and Kenston, which scored its 14 runs off of 12 hits, captured the title.
Seven Lady Kavs were honored by the VCC.
1st Team All-VCC: Peyton Coleman , Molly Epperson .
