Policy
• The Courier-Record attempts to accept only reliable advertisements, but will not be responsible to the public for advertisements, nor are the views expressed in them necessarily those of the Courier-Record.
• Advertising rates subject to change at any time.
• Payment is required in advance until credit has been established. Accounts are billed at the end of each calendar month, and are due and payable by the 15th of the month following billing. Interest on unpaid balances will be charged at the rate of 2% per month (24% per year) effective the 16th day of the month.
• Political ads must be paid in advance except when placed by recognized agencies.
• Over-payments of $100 or less after 60 days will be executed through advertisements on our Service Directory Page at current rates. (When Space is available)

Front Page Banner Advertising
Front page banner advertising will be located on the Front Page.
TOP:
$800 6 column x 2.5 in. (one time run)
ABOVE THE FOLD:
$500 6 column x 2 in. (one time run)
BOTTOM:
Ad must be at least 6 columns x 2 in., and no larger than 6 columns x 3 in.
$30 per column inch (one time run)
$25 per column inch (multiple runs in a month)
Discounts are NOT available for Front-Page Advertising.
Political advertising is currently NOT available for front-page advertising.
Paid Releases
Business announcements may be published with a charge of .35¢ per word. Photos can accompany the release for an additional $35 1- column, $70 2-column.
Inserts
Preprinted inserts must measure no more than 11 x 10.5 inches. Deadline for delivery is Tuesday one week prior to publication.
4,000 required, $200.00 up to 8 pages broadsheet (16 pages tabloid).
If less than 4,000 inserts, the cost is $75 per thousand.
Additional charges for oversize/overweight pieces.
Community Calendar:
$20 per announcement, 50 words or less per week. Must be a non-profit/civic announcement. This announcement will appear on page 2.
Copy Regulations
• Run-Of-Paper (ROP) advertisements will be positioned at publisher’s option. Position requests will be given every consideration, but none are guaranteed or implied.
• A 25% increase of the ad cost will be added for guaranteed placement.
• We reserve the right to insert above and below any copy the words “paid advertisement.”
• We reserve the right to revise or reject, without notice, any ad, at any time, for any reason.
• If we are at fault, we will reprint the ad or portion of the ad in which an error occurs that materially affects the value of the ad. We are not liable for non-insertion of any advertisement beyond the prepaid amount for such ad. Nor are we responsible for any mistake past the first insertion. It is the advertiser’s responsibility to inform us of an error in first publication.

• The Courier-Record will NOT be monetarily responsible for any ads left out of our publication. This includes, but not limited to display advertisement and legal advertisement.

Mechanical Specifications
Printed offset. CMKY. Broadsheet page is 6 columns (11 inches) by 20 inches.
Column width is a standard 10.5 picas (1.75 inches).
Circulation
The Courier-Record was established in 1890. The Courier maintains a current second class postal permit, delivering each Wednesday morning. Single copy price is $2.00. Regular subscription rates are $55.00 per year in Nottoway, Lunenburg, Brunswick, Dinwiddie, Amelia and Prince Edward Counties. $75.00 per year elsewhere.
E-edition $35 per year.
The Courier-Record is qualified as a legal publication. Total paid circulation (publisher’s sworn statement) October 1st, 2024 is 4,000.
