Six of 10 felony charges against a Nottoway County child molester were nol prossed — not prosecuted — this past Monday afternoon (Sept. 29th) in Nottoway Circuit Court.
Jackie Lynn Dorton, 39, of the 300 block of Third Street, Blackstone, pleaded Guilty to Aggravated Sexual Battery (victim under 13), Sodomy (victim under age 13), Object Sexual Penetration by Force, and Possession of Child Pornography. A pre-sentence report has been scheduled for December 8th.
Charges that were nol prossed include: Rape, Aggravated Sexual Battery, Indecent Liberties with a Child Younger than 15, Production of Child Pornography, Reproduction of Child Porn, and Using a Communications System to Facilitate Child Porn.
Dorton was indicted in July by a grand jury after having been charged with some of the offenses earlier in the year.
Blackstone Chief of Police Sam Murphy said the victim is a female who made a report to police on March 1st of this year and was under the age of the 13 at the time of the alleged offenses.
Murphy said the alleged incidents occurred “roughly from 2017 until 2023.” Murphy said defendant Dorton knew the alleged victim.
Murphy said the investigation that began earlier this year uncovered alleged offenses in the Town of Crewe. Several of the July indictments were the result of investigation by Crewe Police Department.
