Ready For Battle Dayton Williams, Jr., shown here with his parents during last week’s signing ceremony, will play football next Fall for the Gettysburg College Bullets in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Kenston Forest football stand-out, Dayton Williams, Jr., will take his gridiron skills to Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA, where he hopes to march into end zones for the NCAA Division III Bullets as he did relentlessly at Larry Clary Field here.

A signing ceremony was held last week in the Kavalier gym. Kenston Head Coach Joe Kaiser said Williams is hoping to play receiver and return punts and kicks for the Bullets. Williams plans to major in Psychology, and also hopes to play basketball for Gettysburg.

At Kenston, Williams last Fall was 1st Team All-State wide receiver and returner in football — scoring 24 touchdowns and accounting for 1,034 yards. He also returned seven kicks and punts for touchdowns.

In basketball at Kenston, Williams was named 1st Team All-State Point Guard, in addition to being named VCC Most Valuabled Player.

Williams is a member of Kenston’s Honor Society, and Kaiser said Williams will become the first Kavalier ever to attend Gettysburg, “a prestigious institution with Ivy League status academics.”

More impressive than Williams’ speed and agility, said Coach Kaiser, are his character and integrity. “The scholarships he received from Gettysburg are a testament to his intelligence, hard work, and Christian values…I see in Dayton a young man who embodies the spirit of Christ — always willing to help others regardless of their background.”

Dayton is the son of Dayton Williams, Sr. of Chesterfield and Eleanor Williams of Chesterfield.
