A story in last week’s Courier Record reported that there are 20 names of veterans, who served in several wars, listed on a wall in St. Mark’s Methodist Church (est. 1838).
Actually, those 20 names are of veterans from St. Mark’s who served in WWII alone, according to Supervisor and long-time church member Dicky Ingram.
Ingramwithalsoa WoodMasternotes that there are 39 veterans — most of whom were members of St. Mark’s UMC and others whose families were — who served in other wars and conflicts and who are laid to rest in the church cemetery. Church members place flags on those graves twice a year — every Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
