New Exhibit LOADING GRAIN, 8×16 oil on canvss by Eldridge Bagley, 2024 Works by artist Eldridge Bagley of Lunenburg County will be on display at the MacCallum More Museum in Gardens in Chase City. A reception will open the exhibit this coming Sunday, May 18th, from 3-5 p.m. The exhibit kicks-off a new partnership between Bagley, who’s painted for more than 50 years, and the museum.

Nationally-known artist Eldridge Bagley of Eldridge has long captured everyday life through powerful storytelling.

Reflecting on his creative journey, he shares, “Through the ages, humans have tended to gather memorable experiences — good and bad — and tuck them away in the mind and heart for ‘safekeep- ing.’ When certain experiences cry-out to be shared, they often find expression through literature, art, and music. I came to realize the truth of this in my own journey as an artist.”

Bagley will begin a new journey with MacCallum More Museum & Gardens located at 603 Hudgins St, Chase City, this coming Sunday, May 18th with the unveiling of “Roads Taken” — the first exhibit of Eldridge Bagley in Partnership with MacCallum More Museum & Gardens. A reception will be held from 3-5 p.m. and is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

In order to assure that everyone has an equal opportunity to view — and possibly purchase — artwork, there will be no early viewing or presales. Museum doors will open promptly at 3:00 p.m.

BAGLEY

Bagley’s work resonates with viewers for its emotional depth and powerful storytelling. Viewers rapidly become involved with the stories and start to wonder about the people and their lives. Vivid imagery draws-in viewers, who become part of the narrative and are transported to another time and place.

The new partnership will see yearly exhibits of Bagley’s work in the MacCallum More Museum from May-August.

Bagley states: “I have had the opportunity and privilege of exhibiting my art at Mac- Callum More Museum several times in recent years. Through those experiences, I came to realize how the beauty and serenity of the museum and gardens provides an idyllic setting for enjoyment of the arts. I am pleased to be working with MacCallum More on plans to feature my art there.”
