This was the scene Christmas Day — shortly before 2:00 p.m on Thursday, Dec. 25rth. — at intersection of South Main & 8th Street. State Police say Blackstone officer Deven Baugus, 23, of Midlothian, was driving south on Main when the 2014 Chrysler unit struck the rear of a 2015 Chevy sedan that was stopped at the light and being operated by Vachel Deangelo, 60, of Victoria. Deangelo was transported to an area hospital with injuries described by police as minor. Officer Baugus escaped injury. No charges were filed. Photos courtesy of Blackstone PD Thursday’s Christmas Day crash remains under investigation. It’s the third officer-involved accident here in six months. In June, officer Dylan Mosier was on patrol on South Main near Clay’s Garden Center and collided with a pick-up while making a U-turn to pursue a vehicle with equipment violations. Just two days earlier, Mosier’s wife Emily was on patrol when a motorcycle being pursued by Lt. Tony Mayton struck the front of her police vehicle on Maben Avenue.
