A Dundas man recently was charged with molesting a child.
According to court records, Jonathan Morgan Wallace was arrested March 5th and charged with a felony — Aggravated Sexual Battery of Child under the age of 13. The alleged offense date is listed as February 27, 2025.
Wallace remains free — “released to parent or responsible adult,” according to a state court website.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on April 16th in Lunenburg Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court. The defendant reportedly is employed by Lunenburg Correctional Center as an officer.
Wallace last year served as a coach in Lunenburg Girls Softball, according to reports and a team photo on Facebook. Efforts to obtain information from Lunenburg Sheriff Arthur Townsend about the case — including where the alleged offense occurred, the defendant’s age, and booking photo — also were unsuccessful. Townsend did not respond to multiple emails over several days from the Courier-Record.
This newspaper again reminds readers that all persons charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. It’s not unusual for charges to be reduced, dismissed, or nol prossed at trial or even prior to trial.
