‘GOD’S GOT ME!’

Roark ‘exhausted’ but upbeat

Supervisor John Roark says he continues to be “overwhelmed” by community support and prayers as he continues to recover from a stroke he suffered in Feb. 2025.

Roark missed Thursday night’s Board meeting and also didn’t attend virtually. Roark said he had undergone an MRI earlier that day and also completed two more rounds of therapy, “and it’s very exhausting.”

Roark revealed, “I have for sometime had localized pain on the right side of my head that is of concern. My brain bleed was on that side. Also within the last few weeks, I have gotten back into therapy, and the schedule for those visits are scattered at best. I had evening therapy for OT and PT on Thursday, for two hours after the MRI.

“I love the citizens of Nottoway County but, respectfully, I must take care of my health first when the two overlap.”

Roark’s absence didn’t go unnoticed Thursday night. “I’ve received calls, messages, texts, and visits to my store from citizens all concerned about my health because of my absence from the meeting. I appreciate everyone who reached-out. It truly means a lot. Just know this — I’m good regardless because God’s got me.”
