‘OD’ PATIENTS FOUND OK

One had taken allergy medicine

Blackstone Police responded to two possible drug overdoses, both of which appeared to have been unfounded.

The first occurred last Monday, May 5th in a restroom at Walmart. Chief of Police Sam Murphy reports that officers located the shopper, who assured them she had not taken drugs but that she had been feeling poorly for a couple of days. Murphy said the woman was transported by ambulance to an area hospital to be examined.

Police were called at 6:30 a.m. Friday, May 9th, to a possible overdose in the 700 block of Falls Street. Chief Murphy said officers discovered that the individual had taken allergy medication, and the request for an ambulance was cancelled. Officers remained on the Falls St. scene for just under an hour to ensure that the individual remained okay.

Residents and authorities have been on increased alert for drug overdoses after a number of fatal ODs in Nottoway in recent years.
